Brexton was a relatively small - but very busy - place located on the plateau at the top of the climb from Gold Bridge, where the canyon road split off to run the remaining distance to Bralorne.  Like Ogden and Gold Bridge, it was not a company town and so could have businesses that sold liquor or were not otherwise under control or contract with the Bralorne Mines company.  British Columbia in those days required lodgings to be available wherever liquor was sold, and so every bar was a "hotel", and would have a certain number of rooms upstairs if only for licensing reasons - although accommodation was a scarce commodity in the valley and no doubt all the rooms in the small hotels above were always full.  It is no accident that all the photos above were taken by the provincial liquor board!  Neither of these stands today, although a store, gas station, and collection of cabins still given some substance to the name, unlike Ogden, Wayside, and Minto, which have disappeared the landscape.
